How to Choose the Right Data Center Company?

Outsourcing data centers has become the favorite option for many companies, both small and large-sized ones, because of the ease and convenience that comes with it.

However, choosing the right company is anything but easy, considering the many choices out there today. So, here are some considerations to keep in mind while choosing the right data center company to outsource your data.

Data Capacity

One of the key aspects of any data center is its data capacity. The company you choose should be able to store and transmit large amounts of data, at the speeds at which you want. For example, if you’re an e-commerce company, you’ll need high transmission and capacity speeds. So, make sure the company you choose offers the data capacity and transmission speeds you need.

Power

Redundant power is an integral part of today’s world because mission-critical systems cannot go down even for one second. Though most companies will have redundant power back in the form of UPSes, it is a still a good idea to check, as the loss can be enormous when your critical systems are down.

Backup Internet connection

Just like power, the company you choose should have a secondary and even a tertiary Internet backup plan to ensure that your data is always available when you want to access it.

Internet outages are common, but as a company, the loss from such outages can quickly add up for you. This is why ensuring a backup Internet connection is essential.

Hardware failovers

Just like power and Internet, having an automatic hardware failover is equally important to ensure there is no downtime. Check if the service provider has redundant online switches, routers and other essential hardware that will automatically take over in case of any failure.

Support

The data center provider you choose should have 24 X 7 X 365 support, and there is no negotiation on this aspect. Though it is an unfortunate byproduct of today’s business environment, you still need someone whom you can talk to in case of an emergency. So, make sure that the company you choose offers such a support team.

In all, choosing the right data center is a critical aspect of your business simply because it is your own and you’re responsible for it. Make sure you pick one of the largest data center providers, experienced and have the necessary backup and support to avoid down times.
