iPhone (up to iPhone 5) comes with one year of hardware repair and 90 days of complimentary support. It extends its coverage up to two years from the original purchase date which includes hardware problems. Two accidental damage coverage is also included, subjected to a $49 service fee.
Users can only buy AppleCare+ up to 30 days after buying an iPhone. It does not cover loss or theft.
Carrier Insurance (up to $9.99/month – AT&T or Verizon)
AT&T offers its subscribers with AT&T’s Mobile Protection Pack for $9.99 per month. This includes every brands of mobile phones including the latest iPhone 5. If your device is broken, lost, or out of warranty, or even soaked in water, you can claim warranty from them.
All you need to do is to enroll for the Mobile Insurance within 30 days after the activation of the device.
Verizon offers the same rate of $9.99 with what it calls as the Total Equipment Coverage. A non-refundable deductible of $169-$199 (depending on the iPhone unit) and 2 replacements within a 12-month period are covered by this insurance plan.
SquareTrade ($94.00)
SquareTrade offers one of the best choices as they give two and three year length of coverage for warranties. Both types of warranties protects you from drop, spills, mechanical, electrical, display, touchscreen and antenna and wifi failures. They cover up to four repairs or replacements compared to others. $50 is deductible to all claims.
